SUMMARY:

The present work points out how the construction of meaning and the moral design of the notion of happiness takes place in a given discourse. Here we seek to show how metaphorical projections are constructed through the analysis of frames, which bring out the sense of HAPPINESS in the book The Art of Happiness, by the Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler. This was done through the foundation of cognitive linguistics, as a theoretical reference, I adopted the semantics of frames, the theory of situated metaphor, conceptual and metaphors of emotion. The method is qualitative based on the methodology of Duque (2015) of frame analysis and Duque (2021) Bootstrapping to identify conceptual metaphors in the discourse using specific excerpts; we mapped the relationships between frames (online and offline) in discourse through Vereza (2013); we also make use of Iramuteq, a qualitative analysis software, to create graphs, graphs and charts aiming at representing the frames. Initially, the text was processed in Iramuteq, where the automatization of the extraction of the textual blocks for the analysis and lemmatization of the expression happiness took place in order to employ the method of identifying conceptual metaphors. The analysis showed that the metaphorical constructions found on the textual surface are concatenated forming a network (metaphorical niche), which contributes to the elaboration of the concept of HAPPINESS from the projection between more concrete frames, such as the ORIGEM-PATH-GOAL frame and the related to emotions, as experiences are reported on the surface of the text and in the course of reading, forming metaphors of HAPPINESS IS DESTINY.
