In the fictional literature work "Histórias que o tempo leva…", written by Luís da Câmara Cascudo, the Brazilian culture-historical elements act as the main contents of the narratives which compose the book published in 1924. Following the facts which elapsed throughout four centuries (XVI-XX), the current research analyzes the historical-primitive recurrent themes present in Cascudianos tales. As well as the representation of the urban space, inserted at the 20th-century modernization dynamics. The mentioned goals are achieved based on the theoretical assumptions of Walter Benjamin (1987) and Le Goff (1990), about history as well as Bachelard (1993), regarding space and its multiple meanings. The analysis of primitive elements and the modernist movement, circumstances in which the analyzed book have was published, was based on the studies of Antonio Candido (2006) and Mário Andrade (1974), as well as on Araújo (1995), Ferreira (2008; 2000) and Medeiros (2016) about the impact of Modernism at Rio Grande do Norte.
