SUMMARY:

Literature teaching has always been a subject that encourages many debates due to the difficulty faced when working with it in the classroom. Recognizing its importance and, at the same time, the challenges that using literature, whether in Portuguese or in a foreign language, in the classroom pose, this study aims to propose an analysis and activities that can be done in the classroom. In this vein, this thesis aims to discuss dialogical/ideological relations between the novels Les Choses, written by Georges Perec and published in 1965, and O Desejo de Kianda, written by Pepetela and published in 1996, so that, based on these discussions, we can propose teaching practices from a dialogical perspective. As we analyze these novels, we will seek to perceive the way by which the main characters responsively act toward the discourses and ideological systems that are represented in the novels. To do so, the analysis of the literary works will be based on concepts developed by the Bakhtin Circle, among which we highlight Bakhtin’s heterodiscourse (2017c) and Voloshinov’s ideology (2017), in dialogue with studies on the idea of ideology that stems from the Marxist tradition, consciousness and ideology in Marx (2008) and Marx and Engels (2007). This analysis will allow us to find approximations between the two novels, which are temporally and geographically separated but share discourses and ideological systems. Besides, through foreign literature, it will help us discuss actions to foster the understanding of works from national literature (BAKHTIN, 2017a).
