Annotated translation of poet Ovid's Medicamina Faciei Femineae
Ovid. Ancient Poetry. Rome. Woman. Feminine.
This dissertation consists of an annotated translation of the poem Medicamina Faciei Femineae, which we will translate as Cosmetics for a Woman's Face. The work in question was written by the Roman poet Ovid in the first century BC. We intend to present a thorough analysis of the work, seeking to find out why this poem was disregarded by literary studies, even though it was written by one of the greatest exponents of literature. One of our hypotheses is that the fact that it is a poem dedicated to the female public and that puts the nature and needs of women at the heart of the work may have contributed to the disapproval the poem suffered.
