This study, of a qualitative and documental nature, has its primary interest in a judicial process instituted by the complainant against the party complained. The initial document is a criminal complaint, a critical part of the exclusively private criminal action, i.e., where the complainant initiates the criminal process on his own initiative. This research aims to describe and to analyze how is constructed the complainant’s “image” and “ethos” and, in contrast, the party complained in the criminal complaint instituted by the Mayor of Campina Grande-PB, Veneziano Vital do Rego, against the humorist Francisco Jozenilton Veloso, known as “Shaolin”. Therefore, some questions presented themselves as the specific goals, namely: 1. What linguistic and enunciative means and strategies the complainant uses to desconstruct the image created by the party complained and, in contrast, to construct his own image. 2. What linguistic and enunciative means and strategies the party complained used to constructo his own image and to (des)construct the complainant’s image. 3. In which discursives the complainant and the party complained sustain the images created for them. In this game of enunciatives strategies, it is noted that the complainant not only defends himself, but also try to destroy and to construct the party complained’s image, different from the image that the party complained has constructed for himself. The strategies used ad varies nature, of which we highlight, arguments from authority, criminal indictment against the party complained, since there was no evidence for allegations against him, testimonies of voices that sustain the good party complained’s image, ridicule of the party complained and his profession, etc. Theoretically, the survey had as primary focus, among many diferente theoretical possibilities to analyze the data, the theoretical suppositions and categories od analysis postulated in the argumentative studies developed by Amoussy (2005, 2011), Reboul (2004) and Plantin (1997), among others.
