TO CALL OF OURSELVES: LITERATURE AND TEACHING FROM THE EPISTOLOGY OF VERÍSSIMO DE MELO
Veríssimo de Melo, teaching, literature, letters
This research aims to offer a proposal of teaching literature in High School, from the epistolography of the writer, poet, musician, researcher, anthropologist and ethnographer Veríssimo de Melo. Veríssimo cultivated the habit of correspondence, having sent and received missives from several places in Brazil. We chose to make a cut out of such letters and the ones studied here are included in the book "Cartas de Ascenso Ferreira a Veríssimo de Melo", as well as others that we obtained from the personal collection of the journalist Wodem Madruga. From the analysis of the letters, we elaborated a didactic sequence based on the ideas presented by Cosson (2006), with didactic suggestions to be used in literature classes. In addition to these suggestions, we discuss some legal aspects of literature teaching, as well as a brief reflection on the term "potiguar literature". Finally, we present a panorama of the life and work of Veríssimo de Melo, with emphasis on his biases as a poet, musician and letter writer.
