RESUMO:

Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, various events marked the feminist movements. In this period of revolutions, some women emerged as leaders in these battles and conquests, writing their names in history, as is the case of Virginia Woolf. In 1925, the canonical english writer had published her fourth novel, Mrs Dalloway, one of the precursory books for a new way to make literature. Through a writing technique called the stream of consciousness, the author coined her name in the history of modern literature and serves up to this day as archetype for new writers. The novel The Hours (1999), of the north american author Michael Cunningham, realizes an immersion in the universe of the prestigious literata. The characters of her narrative make explicit the feminist ideals exalted and consecrated by Virginia Woolf in her books, with the clear inspiration already quoted, Mrs Dalloway. This work aims to analyze the intertextuality constructed between these two writers with respect to the representation of women in different times and spaces described during the course of the novel. We developed this research from the study of authors such as Ricoeur (2016), Bakhtin (2011), Kristeva (2012), and Virginia Woolf's own literary productions, A Room of One’s own (2014) and Profissões para mulheres e outros artigos feministas (2012). These texts will be essential to show the relations between the two creators. In view of the aforementioned points, it is hoped to demonstrate the intertextuality between the two writings that span time and space, serving us as contemplative and reflective objects about subjects that are far from being examined in their totality.
