RESUMO:

This research intends to stablish a relation between the works The Land at the End of the World (1979), written by the Portuguese author António Lobo Antunes, and Rainy Season (1996), written by the Angolan author José Eduardo Agualusa. Such relation is centered on the understanding of how the image of a national being and an emblematic figure of a heroic conqueror in the Lusitanian scenario, as well as the configuration of militants that fought for the independence of Angola, and so, for a free country are targets on the proses cited in a deterioration process. In this sense, the period of the Colonial War in the novel of Lobo Antunes is resumed and moment of the civil war in Angola is reached in Agualusa’s work in order to comprehend, by the experiences lived by the characters on the chosen scenarios, how on these narratives the nationalist discourse was refracted, and because of that, corrupted on the sights of a ruined present that both literary works present. It is therefore inherent in the study of two narratives in which a broad dialogical process dominated, mainly due to the contentious attitude of the official discourses in the texts, that the theoretical basis of this research is made substantially from the postulates of the Circle of Bakhtin. In this sense, concepts such as heterodiscourse, intercalated genres and dialogism in general are evidenced in this analysis, since they contribute to the understanding of the connection established between the dismantling of national identity and the aesthetic formalization of novels. In addition, other studies that deal with the question of national identity, among other dialogues with authors pertinent to this research, are observed, forming a set of voices that help to understand how the dismantling of the nationality feeling is processed so that its marks are felt by / in the narrative bias of the literary texts in focus.
