RESUMO:

The military regime in Brazil brought negative and specific repercussions for the academic community, cultural and social in the decades of 1960 and 1970. In this context, many artists and writers began to express their anxieties and ideological positions through social movements and literary art, in order to describe the events that marked an era troubled by the political crisis. Based mainly on studies of Cândido (2006) and Borges (2010) about literature, history and society and in the reflections of Angelo (1994) and Brandão (1994), with regard to the dictatorship and repression, and in studies of Pageaux (2011) and Pageaux and Machado (1988) about the imagology as a tool of analysis, this research makes a literary and comparative analysis of works Pesach: the crossing of Carlos Heitor Cony, published in 1967, before the Institutional Act No. 5 (Al5); and the party from Ivan Angelo, published in 1976 after the said Decree. We use also the contributions of Foucault (2014) and Orlandi (2007) for weaving thoughts about the practice of silencing and silence through the speech, in this case, the literary, to analyze the images (un)built from the discourse of resistance.  The objective of this research is (dis)cover the images constructed of military dictatorship impregnated in critical speeches of narrators-characters and verify that images are (un) built in the strategies used by authors, through the characters created and narrative structures to be described the social and political moment by which lived the Brazilian population and the artists of the time, especially the writers. Initially, it’s possible see that in the two novels there is a large amount of criticality to the regime of the period, but also a divergence in the discursive focus of narrators and, therefore, a change about the image of the regime that is presented to the readers.  We believe that this work can bring reflections contributing to discussions on the literature, culture and history; text and context; and the debate about the positioning of writers on the censorship imposed by the military regimes of the 20th century through the fictional literature.
