In studies of bare nominal (Nnus) Brazilian Portuguese (PB) there is the dispute concerning the denotation of bare singular (Snu), Müller (2004) argues that the bare singular in PB never has specific reading and that the only possible interpretation of the phenomenon is generic. On the other hand, Pires de Oliveira, Silva & Bressane (2010) state that it denotes species, corroborating Schmitt & Munn (1999). Because of this controversy and understanding that Snu may denote reading a specific referent, this dissertation aims to analyze the Snu exercising subject function and denotes specific reading in the PB internetês texts. To defend the proposal, the specific objectives are i) identify which textual contexts the Snu is employed; ii) investigate which speech acts are evoked; iii) establish in which discursive universes Snu is found and iv) whether
this linguistic phenomenon would be evidence of a discursive tradition in certain internetês texts. The theoretical-methodological model in which the work is guided is the Discursive Traditions (TD) of Romance Philology German, under the postulations of Coseriu (1979), Koch (1997); Kabatek (2006, 2007), Koch & Oesterreicher (2007) and Castilho da Costa (2009, 2010, 2012). Studies on bare nominal and reference names, specifically, are based on Ducrot (1972), Lyons (1977), Müller (2002, 2004), Pires de Oliveira, Silva & Bressane (2010) Pires de Oliveira & Mezari (2012) . Methodologically, it is a search method which is the hypothetical-deductive, and analysis are given in a qualitative approach with quantitative support. The corpus consists of Snu occurrences collected from genres on the Internet, such as: article of opinion, comment news, commentary social networking, chronic, email, personal publications on social networks and fanpages posts. Preliminary results show that there are certain linguistic-textual contexts that favor the use of Snu with specific referent, and that the main motivation for this use is pragmatic, although some morphosyntactic and semantic aspects an influence on the phenomenon. Furthermore, Snu is configured as a discourse tradition, showing that the conditioning of certain linguistic phenomena may be motivated by TD, for pragmatic and lexical aspects and not only motivated by the language rules.
