RESUMO:

The tales of Sagarana, inaugural work of Guimarães Rosa, bring an overview of themes and subjects that motivated all his work. One of these tales - " St. Mark " - is the object of our master degree . The author portrays the daily life of a distant community , typical place of cultural memory in Brazil Caboclo . Whereas tales were originally writings onthe 1930's . This work studuing the backwoods religious syncretism of the peculiarities and his importance of literary regionalism . The study try to show the configuration of Literary Images according to DH Pageaux ideas (1988 ) , highlighting how simple shapes ( André Jolles , 1976) in the structure of the text , the peculiar aspects of popular piety (CR Brandão , 1980) , and account with as historiographical considerations of Antonio Candido .
