SUMMARY:

Considering the relevant role that University Extension plays in reaching institutional objectives, specifically, in the case of the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA), this research aims to understand the importance of public funding for the strengthening and consolidation of University Extension in the scope of UFCA. Thus, it is expected that the main objective will be achieved by reaching the secondary objectives, which are: to examine the budgetary resources allocated to Extension; identify the extension actions conducted by the university; and verify the influence of the budget for carrying out extension actions. Concerning the objectives sought here, the research is classified as descriptive and exploratory. Bibliographic research will be used to construct the theoretical-empirical framework. In the data collection process, the documentary research modality will be managed. The characterization of extension actions will be based on the analysis of information contained in the documents provided by the Dean of Extension. Budget data with extension will be collected by generating budget execution reports in the Treasury Management system. As for the nature of the data, this study is characterized as quantitative, using the Pearson Correlation statistical method.
