SUMMARY:

This project starts from the reflection on teaching and competences, aiming at the construction of an instrument of mapping competencies for teacher training at the Federal University of Cariri. The facts prove that teaching is an important determinant of the success or failure of the educational process and has great responsibility for the expected results. At the federal level, it is the National Employee Development Policy that defines the guidelines for professional development. It understands the development process of the public servant through the diagnosis of competences. Competency mapping is the first step, of the four that make up the systematic planning that involves the Competency-Based Training System (SCBC). In the case of UFCA, there is an effort for the training actions proposed to teachers to meet the assumptions of Management by Competencies. The university has carried out continuing education for teachers, but does not yet have a continuing education program for these professionals. Thus, this project comprises an intervention proposal that will take place through three qualitative methods to investigate and analyze the data: bibliographic, documentary research and survey. The proposed instrument will be elaborated from a comparative analysis, through the interpretation of thedata pointed out by the professors of UFCA and the theoretical body that surrounds the theme. It is expected to contribute to the training of professors at UFCA, so that the competence mapping tool helps in their personal and professional development, making them increasingly empowered and qualified teachers and helping Public Management to fulfill the commitment to transform the roles and responsibilities of teachers, as well as the conditions for entering the profession and training.
