SUMMARY:

What gives legitimacy to the concern of the depletion of natural reserves is the understanding that human activity directly influences environmental balance, quality of life and economic stability. In this sense, a worldwide discussion was started on how to reverse this situation. Several countries signed agreements and commitments to the so-called 'sustainable development'. In Brazil, both the private sector and the state have been looking for alternatives to promote sustainable development, including changes in constitutional law at the states and federal levels. Since the beginning of the 1990s, this theme has been addressed in the public administration sphere, and it was only in 2009 that the impact on the sustainable development that the State has in its activities was recognized, thanks to its size. So, among other tools that the Government has to promote sustainability, in 2012 the Sustainable Logistics Management Plan - PLS was created, a public policy that institutes sustainable practices in the activities of the Federal Government agencies. Thus, this reaches federal universities and municipalities, which in addition to having to adhere to PLS by force of law, also have the role of forming sustainable thinking in their community by being an example. From this thought, the following question arises: "How is the University's PLS being monitored?". Thus, the present intervention pre-project aims at collecting and creating a PLS monitoring tool at UFCA (Federal University of Cariri). A preliminary diagnosis suggested that the University, like many others, has gaps in the design and monitoring of its sustainability policy, therefore, part of this work unfolds in an evaluation, both of the Plan, and of its monitoring reports - to observe the possible weaknesses and difficulties encountered during its execution; collectively build, with the institution's sustainability managers, new indicators for the actions already proposed and outline guidelines for the construction of a constant monitoring tool for UFCA's activities in the context of its PLS. It is expected that with this intervention, sustainability management will become more fluid and efficient in the institution.
