SUMMARY:

People Management represents a challenging area for public managers. In recent years, the scenario of political instability within the scope of the Federal Government and the fiscal crisis has made its management increasingly complex. This scenario has led public organizations to seek managerial alternatives to increase their capacity to respond to the demands of society at the same time that they have suffered from budgetary restrictions and the reduction of the staff. In this sense, in order to present appropriate management solutions to the problems identified in the diagnosis of this pre-intervention project, it is intended to propose a strategic alignment in the UFRN People Management Policy, based on the adoption of a competency-based strategic management model for the Career of Administrative Technicians in Education, using the methodology of Design Science Research. This proposal will be built through the following steps: choosing the field problem to be solved; systematic review; research summary; design propositions; development test. This method presupposes a closer connection between the researcher and the researched environment, as well as a greater interaction between the researcher and the local actors, involving the participation of these actors in all stages of the process, being characterized by a joint construction, providing greater adherence between the identified problems and the construction of appropriate solutions.
