RESUMO:

Contemporary public management faces the challenge of resource scarcity, such as leaner public budgets, having the ability to deliver quality public services. Within this scenario, the public sector has pursued several notably efficient private sector methods and techniques. Business Process Management (BPM) has an integrated view of all the organization's activities, enabling the formulation of strategies that contribute to quality promotion, cost reduction and greater satisfaction of internal and external customers. The objective of this paper is to propose improvements to the purchasing process of the Rio Grande do Norte State Military Police through BPM. Therefore, the methodological approach adopted is that of design science research, starting from the choice of the field problem to be solved (initial diagnosis), followed by a systematic literature review that culminated in the synthesis of the research (theoretical framework).  It is intended to use in the following steps, the design propositions (project) and test for development, the design thinking methodology to achieve the main objective of this intervention project.
