RESUMO:

Over the years and governments, management has evolved from authoritarian models to more democratic forms of administration. This transformation takes place from the macro-social level to the micro-relationships that are established in productive organizations. Multiple levels or degrees of power relations and control interweave in the formation of the various realities that can be studied from management models. Participatory management is one of those molds, and every little space for participation is a mutual learning workshop in which both organizations and those that it take part, grow and strengthen in practice the use of power and responsibility for the consequences of taken decisions. The activity proposed here is the study of one of these spaces, the program Reitoria Itinerante (Itinerant Rectory), of the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB), as a possible process of participatory and democratic management, with regard to administrative decentralization, control and efficiency public management within the institution. This is a case study, exploratory and descriptive, which provides a quantitative empirical approach, aiming the design of characteristic of the phenomenon observed from the isolation of key variables. An inquiry will be made by the academic community of the institution investigated, addressing the perception of its components on whether or not participating in the management.
