SUMMARY:
Introduction: Although the increase in life expectancy is celebrated as an advance for humanity, this brings with it the aging of the population as one of the most relevant and greatest challenges in the contemporary world. Knowing the characteristics and real needs together with the relationship of health-related behaviors with healthy aging in the elderly will allow the development of targeted interventions.
Objective: To study health-related behaviors in elderly people working and their current health status. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The Chi-square or Fisher's exact test with a 95% confidence interval for descriptive statistics and the Chi-square or Fisher's exact test with a 95% confidence interval were performed, as well as the multivariate Poisson analysis with crossing of all independent variables with dependent ones, to search for associations and determine the prevalence ratio with a 95% confidence interval, for inferential statistics through the IBM SPSS version 22.0 software.
Results: in the descriptive analysis, males with a mean age of 64 years old, with brown and black color/race, married, and with higher education level predominated. Most considered their general state of health and memory as excellent and good, a high number of respondents with chronic non-communicable diseases, and a significant number of people with multimorbidities were highlighted. The importance of sex life throughout life proved to be important, at least one day a week most respondents drank alcohol in the last three months, reported physical activity, on falls after 60 1/3 of respondents reported having suffered falls and the vast majority had updated invite-19 and influenza vaccines. In inferential analysis. There was a significant association between marital status and importance of sexual life throughout life (p<0.03), between sex and sexual life throughout life (p<0.04), between sex and alcohol consumption in the last three months (p<0.02¹, between gender and falls after 60 years of age (p<0.02) Significant associations were also observed between non-communicable chronic diseases with updated vaccination card against influenza (p<0.01). health plan, with the exception of SUS, was associated with have or had a smoking habit (p<0.05), and there was an association between the elderly who have a medical diagnosis for depression with difficulty in using and accessing health services (p=0, 02).
Perspectives for the conclusion of the work: deepening the studied theme and, based on the findings, develop actions within the UFRN according to the situations found, publications in scientific journals, fruits of this work, the first being a research protocol, the second one a scoping review on relative behaviors. health-related in the elderly and the third the findings of this research.
