SUMMARY:

The use of instruments with adequate diagnostic accuracy to identify losses disorders in schoolchildren is fundamental. Know and manage hearing health information that encompass the school environment, individual and school information, assists in the elaboration of individual and collective actions in the scope of Health and Education, as the Health Program aims at School (PSE). The objective of this thesis is to study protocols for the identification of hearing loss and proposal for the management of hearing health information of school students fundamental I and II. 7 studies will be developed. 1) Study of diagnostic accuracy, comparing conventional methods of hearing screening to the gold standard - audiometric screening, tympanometric and transient stimulus otoacoustic emissions (TOAE); 2) Study of accuracy comparing different TOAE failure criteria; 3) Systematic review on computerized methods of hearing screening; 4) Preparation and validation of a questionnaire for screening for hearing loss through content validation; 5) Describe actions to promote hearing health; 6) Validate the use of a system to manage hearing health information; 7) Characterize the actions in hearing health developed in the PSE. The partial results of the thesis include 1) TOAE as a protocol with better accuracy measures; 2) Criterion C with better accuracy; 3) Six instruments were identified, of which three presented sensitivity and specificity greater than 70% - P.E.T.I.T., tablet-based teleaudiometer, HearScreen™ application, computer-based Audiometer; 4) In progress; 5) The five proposed activities were effective, with engagement observed by the entire school community and changes in habits by students; 6) In progress; 7) In progress. With the conclusion of the individual studies and their joint analysis, it is intended to obtain an overview of the PSE Hearing Health actions and propose possible instruments for identification of hearing loss and management of hearing health information within from the program.
