The present study aimed to analyze the quality of cancer care for children and young people in Rio Grande do Norte. The study in its methodological approach proposed to the development, validation of an instrument and its application, being carried out in four distinct stages: 1) for the construction of the instrument a meeting was held with experts, who were selected for convenience, the recording of the meeting was transcribed, which was analyzed for its content by means of the initial categories "factors that positively influence the outcomes of childhood and juvenile cancer" and "factors that positively influence the outcomes of childhood and juvenile cancer"; 2) validated content by judges / experts, they were called to judge, through an electronic document, the first version of the instrument, analyzing the Content Validity Index by Item (IVC-I) and the Validity Index of (IVC) considering ≥0.78, as well as concordance among judges at the acceptable rate of 90%, the Kappa Coefficient (k) ≥0.6 will be later analyzed; 3) Obtaining reliability evidences will be obtained through the application of the second version of the questionnaire to a sample of 15 randomly selected the people responsible for patients, using the medical records, with outcomes of interest occurring in the years 2018 or 2019, and 15 health professionals , who were also randomly selected, who provided assistance to these patients according to the established criteria. The test and retest were performed and the results were analyzed using the weighted Kappa coefficient (Kp) ≥0.80, thus generating the final version of the instrument; 4) the application of the instrument to 100 randomly chosen persons using medical records, with outcomes of interest occurring in the years 2018 or 2019, and 100 health professionals, will be given through a group of researchers from the Federal University of Rio Grande of the North, which will pass through the calibration process, performing the characterization of the sample by means of the descriptive statistics and obtaining the total and specific scores of each domain. Given the stage 1, it was possible to establish with the verbalization of the experts three themes that led to the elaboration of the instrument, which was developed based on four domains: prior to diagnosis, for diagnosis, treatment and after treatment, taking into account aspects structure, process and / or result, as well as the quality dimensions applicable to the one proposed by the experts, culminating in the first version of the instrument, which is composed of two sections: the first one focused on health professionals and the second on the people responsible for patients. The questionnaire in its first version is under the evaluation of the experts, and it is expected to find an excellent level of agreement among the experts, as well as reliability and with the application of the instrument it is expected to infer the quality of the child care line with cancer in Rio Grande do Norte, and make propositions.
