Acute effect of the vague nerve atro electimulation in the postural control of people living with HIV / AIDS: a controlled clinical trial
Postural Balance, vagus nerve stimulation, HIV.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the acute effect of the vague nerve earnestimulation of the vague nerve in the postural control of people living with HIV / AIDS in a period of destraining. Methodology: The research is characterized as a controlled clinical trial, composed of 22 men (age: 36.6 ± 10.0 years) and 8 women (age: 51.4 ± 7.75), physically inactive, living with HIV and using antiretroviral therapy. For the vague headset headset electrostimulation, a device has been used, with modified electrodes, whose stimulation was performed before and after the evaluation of the postural control, for which a triaxial force platform was used, with the participants in the BIPodal standing position. RESULTS: In the pre and post analyzes atrial headset of the vague nerve, in the Sham and active conditions, no significant differences were observed for postural control in the variables of the time domain. In relation to the variables of postural control, BMI demonstrated relevance between 27% and 35% for men and women, and the diagnostic time demonstrated relevance between 68% and 85% for men and women. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that the overwhelming electimulation of the vagus nerve, acute, does not promote significant changes in the parameters of postural control of individuals living with HIV. In addition, it is evident that the higher the time the individual lives with the virus, larger may be the damage in postural control.
