SUMMARY:

Despite advances in Brazilian legislation to guarantee the rights of the LGBTQIA+ population in recent decades, hate speech, discriminatory practices and structural inequalities that remain latent in our society and are reflected in the job market still reproduces. Product of a historically constructed culture, which operates producing more or less inequalities, based on roles and social norms that culminate in power relations over individuals. Studies on the subject of sexual orientation and the labor market have focused on analyzing the income differentials between same-sex and different-sex couples, largely due to limitations in the sources of information available at the national level, which do not allow studies on the LGBTQIA+ population. The inequalities that affect sexual minorities do not occur in isolation, but operate through the intersection of markers of difference (sex, race/color, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, among others). In a society still based on patriarchal, racist and heteronormative pillars, the markers of difference reinforce and overlap, generating multiple social inequities. The labor market is still an environment heavily influenced by conservative values, where people may be subject to lower chances of occupation, opportunities and permanence according to their sexual orientation. Just as inequalities can deepen with the intersection of these markers, especially for sexual minorities. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the effect of sexual orientation and the intersection of difference markers (sex, race/color and income) on the condition of occupation in the Brazilian labor market, in the year 2019. The main data source will be the 2019 National Health Survey (PNS), carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MS), which for the first time released information on the sexual orientation of adults in the world. country. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, descriptive analyzes will be carried out on the demographic, socioeconomic, work, health and violence characteristics, according to the individuals' sexual orientation, and logistic regression models will be applied to: estimate the chances of occupation by sexual orientation; to analyze the effect of sex, race/color and income, and the intersection of sex and race/color on the chances of occupation among sexual minorities.
