SUMMARY:

Brazil is simultaneously experiencing an unprecedented health, political, economic and environmental crisis, resulting in high unemployment rates and a high number of workers in the informal market. In this context, the figure of the Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI) is significantly increased, characterized as an autonomous professional with the rights and obligations of a legal entity, playing an important role in the economy and society. However, studies point to high MEI mortality in the country. Therefore, this dissertation has as its main objective the construction of a business life table, an important demographic indicator to describe the MEI mortality and its life expectancy. To this end, data provided by SEBRAE/RN will be used, with the variables of opening, closing, current and accumulated balance of MEI, with division by mesoregions of Rio Grande do Norte, in the period between 2016 and 2020. These analyses will provide mortality and life expectancy indicators that can help decision making and construction of public policies for the MEI in Rio Grande do Norte and serve as a subsidy for new studies, since the topic is rarely addressed in the academic environment, and so far there are no observed studies with this theme, periodization and geographic scope.
