SUMMARY:

The demographic transition refers to changes in fertility and mortality rates, from high levels to low, and with that there is a change in the age structure of the population. As a result, at the end of this process, there is an older population. But during the demographic transition there are also social changes, especially during the second demographic transition with effects on fertility, for example. The General Social Security System, being based on the simple financial distribution system, is sensitive to demographic changes and therefore has to adapt periodically to meet its future obligations regarding payments with benefits, such as the death pension, which guarantees an income to the insured's dependents when he dies, as the dependent class mostly includes children and spouses, changes in fertility, mortality, life expectancy and nuptiality are expected to affect the total expenditure with the granting of this benefit, therefore The present study aims to estimate the future financial impact on pensions for death granted by the General Social Security System resulting from population aging. For this purpose, through the estimation of the lifetime pension income, it is expected to capture the effects of demographic changes on expenditures with pension due to death in the General Social Security System, in Brazil.
