RESUMO:

The dynamics of morbidity and mortality patterns have been pointing to traffic accidents as one of the external causes that have decimated millions of individuals around the world and left others with physical and psychological sequelae that can be lifelong. At the institutional level, these events are also characterized as a high burden for health systems, public security and public security, especially in developing countries, and the Northeast Region of Brazil is highlighted within this scenario. These impacts have attracted the attention of researchers from different areas in the last decade, motivating studies that seek to better understand the factors that influence these occurrences, which are generally segregated according to the behavioral-vehicle-epidemiological triad. In this perspective, studies of this type are considered fundamental considering areas bordering the highways, especially in those with intense and disorderly use and occupation of the soil, since they are the regions with great flow of individuals and vehicles. Thus, the present study aims to identify the factors associated with the occurrence of traffic accidents with serious victims between motorcycle and motorcycle drivers in the urban stretches of federal highways BR 101, 116 and 230 in the Northeast Region during 2007-2007, according to the epidemiological triad. In order to reach the proposed objective, the traffic accident data provided by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) between 2007 and 2017 will be used, through which it is possible to identify different characteristics of the driver, the road, the environment and the vehicle. The study database will be composed of individuals over 18 years of motorcycle or motor vehicle drivers at the time of occurrence. The serious traffic accident is considered to be the result of drivers with serious injuries or dead. This project proposes as an analysis the application of binary response regression models to assess which factors are associated with the outcome of interest (occurrence / non-occurrence of serious accidents). Preliminary results show that, between 2007 and 2017, traffic accident occurrences in the urban stretches of BR 101 they were concentrated in Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, while in BR 116 they concentrated in Bahia and Ceará, and in BR 230, in the urban stretches of Paraíba. The prevalence of death / serious injuries among car drivers varied between 0.83% (BR 230 in 2012) and 11.9% (BR 101, in 2017) On the other hand, the prevalence of fatalities and severe injuries among motorcycle drivers varied between 19.7% (BR 230 in 2008) and 66.1% (BR 101, in 2017). serious injuries for am observed in BR 101, in the period 2016-2017: car (252.5%) and motorcycle (149.8%).
