SUMMARY:

This study investigates the importance of institutional communication in the context of public health, focusing on the Virtual Campus of Public Health of PAHO (Pan American Health Organization). Initially, the theoretical foundations of public and institutional communication are presented, highlighting their relevance for the dissemination of information and knowledge construction. The text explores the role of the Virtual Campus as an essential tool for health education, emphasizing its structure and the use of social networks to promote institutional communication. Additionally, the challenges and strategies to legitimize communication in media organizations are discussed, with an emphasis on media visibility and the operating logic of the PAHO Virtual Campus. To obtain the results, a methodological approach involving case study and analysis of the impact of institutional communication was used, identifying difficulties and proposing solutions to optimize its effectiveness. Finally, the final considerations are presented, highlighting the importance of institutional communication in promoting public health and suggesting directions for future research. The study is based on a comprehensive literature review with studies on mediatization (Almeida, 2021; Alencar and Hjarvad, 2022; Véron, 2004; Sodré, 2012; 2022) and Health Communication (Soares, 2020), Organizational Communication (Matos, 2010; Kunsch, 2003), as well as relevant annexes to complement the presented analysis.
