SUMMARY:

The most commonly used support structures for transmission lines are lattice steel towers. During storms, it is relatively common for this type of structure to fall, and one of the possible factors of collapse is the dynamic actions due to the wind. Thus, the objective of this work is the development of a computational program that allows the modeling, analysis and visualization, static and dynamic, of metallic lattice towers of transmission lines through the Finite Element Method. MATLAB was used for the development, making use of the GUIDE tool to build the graphical interface. The static validation of the program was performed using a spatial truss, through comparison with a work in the literature, obtaining almost identical results. Finally, a self-supporting transmission line tower over 40 meters high was modeled and analyzed, obtaining the deformation of the structure and the internals in the static part, in addition to the natural frequencies, vibration modes, displacement over time and maximum efforts. At the end of this work, it is possible to notice that the dynamic analysis is extremely important when designing structures subject to wind force.
