SUMMARY:

The construction industry is responsible for a consumption of 20 to 50% of the natural resources existing on the planet and, a way of mitigating the growing exploitation of deposits for the extraction of natural aggregates and expanding the use of residues, are the studies aimed at application of these in paving works with a view to reincorporation of waste in the civil construction chain. Based on this context, the present work aims to technically analyze the application potential of construction and demolition waste (CDW) as a possibility of efficient reuse in base and sub-base layers of pavements, through analysis comparative between mixtures of soil-gravel and soil-CDW, from tests of resilience modules (MR) according to the guidelines of the new method of dimensioning flexible pavements of the Departamento Nacional de Infraestrutura de Transportes (DNIT) [National Department of Transport Infrastructure of Brazil]. The mechanical performance of the CDW in mixtures with soil evaluated by the MR and by the permanent deformation is still little analyzed, according to reviews made in the available literature, and with the implementation of the new method for sizing, these parameters are fundamental. In addition, the CDW object of this research has regionalized characteristics, as in general occurs in each city. To carry out this research, dynamic triaxial tests were performed to determine the MR of mixtures of Solo-Brita and Solo-CDW in various proportions. Based on the data obtained, a pavement structure was designed using the MeDiNa software to verify whether the use of soil mixtures with CDW aggregates would provide structural layers of base and sub-base with performance comparable to that of soil-gravel whose use is already standardized by some road agencies. The results obtained through the dimensioning using MeDiNa proved the possibility of using the mixture of soil-CDW in the proportion 70-30 in layers of base and sub-base of pavements in an appropriate way. Based on the magnitude of the MR, the potential of the soil mixture with these construction residues for use in pavement structure was ratified, in specific proportions, corroborating more and more with conservation actions and maintenance of natural resources through the use of CDW on the local paving.
