In the Civil Construction scenario, the thermal and acoustic performance of buildings is a relevant theme, which is gaining more and more space in scientific research, especially after the development of NBR 15575 (ABNT, 2013), better known as the performance standard. This tends, therefore, to encourage the search for ways to make construction systems more efficient. From this perspective, the present work analyzed the thermal and acoustic behavior of coating mortars, using different levels of a fine fraction of expanded clay as a substitute for conventional aggregate. Laboratory tests were carried out with the aid of prototypes that simulate the incidence and transfer of heat and noise in the samples. The results show that the mortars under study did not show significant changes in their mechanical properties. Nevertheless, it was observed that the increase in the content of expanded clay in the mixture had a positive impact on the thermal and acoustic properties of mortars.
