SUMMARY:
The main objective of this work is to produce a study about the spatial hierarchization of historical knowledge in Brazil through production places and historiographic narratives in which the Rio-São Paulo axis emerges as widespread and diffuse spatiality in the national territory. This event occurred in parallel with the design of a professional and academic Brazilian Historiography, as well as in an environment – from the 1980s and 1990s – in which there was an emergency in academic journals and in the specialized literature of historiographical reflections as a wholesome. This was largely due to the discussion around historiographic renewals, the emergence of new graduate programs in the different regions of the country and the production of a historiographical memory of the institutions. Thus, this research venture is situated between the history of historiography and a cultural history of spaces. This means emphasizing spatial construction as an aspect resulting from discursive operations that attribute meaning to the national space through historiographical images and representations, as well as through places of production and enunciation of historical knowledge in constant litigation in the narrative of historians. These layers of tensions are expressed between narratives, problems seen as methodological fallibility in the treatment with documentation, errors in the spatial clipping of research, institutional disputes and/or between groups of historians and through a national paradigm. In these disputes, historical discourse is shown as a relevant aspect, because it is through it and that borders are raised and territories materialize, as well as identities and social and subject places. The sources mobilized were the writings of historians and the writings on and around institutional disputes within the scope of history in the sense of a venture whose own object is the mapping of existing spatial tensions. Cartography is the methodology designed to suggest the coexistence of different paths, paths and historical trajectories that ended up circumscribing spatial regimes in the writing of historians who work in the national territory. Thus, we will problematize the historical construction of spatial clipping data in the narrative of historians, providing progress in research on spatial hierarchies in Brazilian historiography.
