In 1885 at Rio Grande do Norte´s province, the Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rosário da cidade de Jardim was officialized in the Freguesia of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, ecclesiastical administration´s space in the city, which afterwards, and until nowdays, was named Jardim do Seridó/RN. The aim of this study was to analyze the construction process of the sacred spaces by the Negros do Rosário in the Freguesia of Nossa Senhora da Conceição between the years 1885 and 1930. For the dissertation´s construction was essential to gather a database of printed, written, and oral sources that were previously authorized by the responsible of the archives and by the interviewees. The sources include Livro de atas, Medidas e Resoluções (1885-1944), Livro de Receitas e Despesas da Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rosário (1919-1949) and the Livro de Tombo 1, the Lei Provincial nº 951 from 16 April of 1885 and the interviews granted by the current Negros do Rosário from the families of “povo da Boa Vista” and “Caçotes” during the Festa do Rosário 2019/2020. For the analysis of the written and printed sources was used Ginzburg´s onomastic method, and for the oral sources were applied the methodology of oral history and Marc Bloch´s regressive method (2001). During the sacred festivities in devotion to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, families of several conditions and qualities were part of the group that constituted the Irmandade do Rosário in the parish, headed to the urban core covered by this space. Thus, the study´s literature review was operationalized with the spatial category of hieropolis, postulated by the geographer Zeny Rosendahl (2018). In this sense, the space was constituted by sacred and profane places, engendered by hierophanies (sacred act manifested in the root) of the Negros do Rosário, such as the "Dança do Espontão" (or “pulo”), the processions and the coronation rituals. In this period, the Catholicism practiced in the national territory was far from the Catholicism preached in Rome. Thus, in the country, to bring the Catholicism practiced in the territory closer to the dictates of the Tridentine, took place the process of Catholic devotional reform which constituted a reform in the clergy, in worship, in the liturgy, and in the reordering of devotions of the Catholicism practiced in Brazil. It was in this context that the process of the construction of sacred places by these actors was developed.
