SUMMARY:
In the municipality of Jardim do Seridó, in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the year 1885, a Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rozário da cidade de Jardim, was institutionalized whose party of the patron had already occured since the year 1863, and had as founders of it several families of blacks in which the actors were or were not under the aegis of slavery called negros do Rosário. This work aimed to analyze the process of building spaces of sociability by the brothers of Rosário in the city of the Jardim do Seridó between the years 1885 na 1951. The sources used to analyze the construction of these spaces by the brothers of Rosário, inserted in the context of reforma devocional católica in Jardim do Seridó are the Livros de Actas, Medidas e Rezoluções, Livros de Tombo 1 e 2, Compromisso da Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Rozário da cidade de Jardim as well as some interviews with the current members of the brotherhood. Through the analysis of thes sources it was possible to identify the families that belonged to the brotherhood: “o povo da Boa Vista dos Negros”, Dantas e “Caçotes” and how the hierarchies were formed in the brotherhood.In this way, we were also able to visuaslize how these social spaces were built by the negros do Rosário identifying conflicts and reconciliations with the clergy and the Society of Jardim, and how, through this, they managed to build and insert themselves in the space of the city of Jardim do Seridó.
