This paper analyzes the establishment and consolidation of financial administration in the captaincy of Rio Grande, through the action of the officers of the Office of the Royal Treasury of Rio Grande, between 1612 and 1723. The time frame includes the installation of a basic tax unit in the Captaincy Rio Grande in 1612, and the reduction of the area of jurisdiction of the Office of the Rio Grande in 1723, on the occasion of the creation of the Office of the Great Siará before space under the competence of the financial administration of the Rio Grande. In this sense, the establishment of a bureaucratic tax system in the captaincy of Rio Grande is understood as a form of the Crown legitimize the presence of their colonizing action in its overseas territories. Creating a simple framework for officers in 1612, the consolidation of fiscal areas, the streams of the captaincy, the transition from the seventeenth century to the eighteenth, settled in an organized administrative system in which, through the work of the officers Regal and contractors, the arms of the tax authorities entered the captaincy. Thus, through various sets of documents is intended to examine the establishment of the Office of the Royal Treasury of the Rio Grande, the organization of its official picture from the second half of the seventeenth century, the performance of contractors in the captaincy of Rio Grande and the relations of power and interests in which these individuals were involved. Finally, you can understand how, throughout this process, have been consolidated in the captaincy tax areas of tax collection, built up over decades of experience of men of Finance d'el King in the seventeenth century.
