SUMMARY:

New forms of consumption arise through current economic models, such as the shared economy. In the context of hospitality, there are short-term rental platforms (PACT, in portuguese or STRP, in english) that meet the desires of the contemporary tourist, characterized by users linked to technology, who crave an accommodation experience just like a resident of the destination to be visited. Many academic studies highlight the impacts associated with tourist activity, however, there is a lack of work dealing with the implications caused by PACTs. Such repercussions range from the lack of specific legislation to the problems caused to social welfare. PACTs are increasingly present in countries, so such adversities are universal, and this dynamic needs to be analyzed. This theme is the central axis of this research, which questions: what are the main impacts caused by the PACTs on social well-being and what possible solutions to these issues, through the perspective of the involved and affected community (directly or indirectly), in the city of Recife – PE?. To answer this question, the general objective was formulated: to analyze the impacts of PACTs, as a shared economy, on social well-being. Contributing to the formulation of data that serve as an analysis of the practice of these platforms within the tourist context in cities. To meet this, three specific proposals are proposed: Identifying the impacts caused by the activity of the PACTs, as a sharing economy; identify which social welfare impacts derive from the behavior of PACT users, using a research instrument that allows the perception of the community involved; and, to present mediating solutions, on the part of the community involved, for possible elucidations of the developments that affect social well-being identified in the research. As methodological procedures, this investigation, of a qualitative nature, will be divided into three stages: bibliographic review; application of questionnaires to hosts and the resident community close to properties included in the PACT; and, elaboration of the Evaluation/Solution Matrix. All internships seek to respond to specific objectives. After applying the interviews, data analysis will be carried out, when, with the contribution of the theoretical foundation, the matrix will be built, considered the great scientific contribution of this thesis. After this phase, the data will be hoping to bring advances in reading on this topic, on PACT and related impacts.
