SUMMARY:

Social invisibility is a problem that highlights inequalities and affects society since the dawn of civilization, however, only more recently has there been a more accentuated debate. Even with globalization and technological evolution, political crises around the world are accentuated as inequalities. Tourism is also a social practice that for a long time had an elitist connotation, but that currently talks about social inclusion in its practice. People with disabilities are a part of these invisible people and they are the focus of this study. Through the analysis of the relations between tourism and social invisibility, focusing on the structure of accessibility in tourist spaces, existing public policies and the experiences of the visually impaired in Natal/RN. The objective of this research is to analyze the positive and negative aspects of the accessibility structure for the visually impaired in tourist spaces; mapping the main public policies implemented for the visually impaired in tourist spaces; and the analysis of the disadvantages of visual impairments on issues related to their inclusion and importance in the tourist scenario. The methodological path of this research will be through bibliographical research to guide the study, on-site observation, documentary research of public policies and interviews with people with visual impairments, in order to know their perception as a tourist or leisure practitioner. It is intended, at the end of the research, to answer the question that permeates it: Does tourism show the social invisibility of the visually impaired or can it mitigate its effects?
