Factors affecting resident support for the development of community-based tourism in indigenous communities.
Resident support. Indigenous community. Tourism development. Community Based Tourism.
The development of tourist activity in communities is based on participation and involvement in the decision-making and planning process, a factor that must be observed through the attitudes of residents through the various situations arising from tourism. Therefore, this work aims to investigate the factors capable of affecting residents' support for the development of community-based tourism in indigenous communities. For the development of the investigation, it was necessary to seek a basis through the theory of social exchanges (SET), which deals with cognitive perspectives related to rationality, since it is associated with a set of exchanges, based on rewards and perceived costs in the relationship between the residents and activity support (Strzelecka et al., 2017). In addition, a model capable of measuring resident empowerment through the tourism scale - RETS Boley and McGehee (2014) was used as a theoretical basis. The research is characterized as descriptive of a quantitative nature of the Cross-sectional Survey type, through the hypothetical-deductive method. The research sample will be carried out in a non-probabilistic way, for convenience. Data collection will be done through the application of questionnaires with closed questions, through the Google Forms tool, with questions based on the Likert scale on a 5-point metric scale, which will be applied in person. Data will be collected in the period between the months of July and October of the year 2023. The data will be processed using excel and analyzed using the Statistical Package For Social Science software (SPSS 23.0) and AMOS 23.0. Thus, to analyze the relationships between the dimensions, a theoretical model will be proposed based on the constructs of Community involvement, Social empowerment, Psychological empowerment, Political empowerment, Positive impacts, negative impacts and support from residents in which Structural Equation Modeling will be used (MEE).
