SUMMARY:

In recent years, the search for sustainable alternatives for agricultural production has intensified, with the aim of increasing the production of vegetable crops and ensuring their resilience in the face of climate and environmental changes. One of the valid alternatives to attribute resistance to biotic and abiotic factors, edaphoclimatic conditions and increased plant nutrition is the use of biofertilizers. Seaweed has a diverse range of biotechnological applications, one of which is as a plant biostimulant, as it contains nutrients and phytohormones essential for plant growth and development. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of applying a biofertilizer based on the marine macroalgaeKappaphycusalvarezii (Doty) on the morphophenological responses in the germination and initial growth of Carthamustinctorius L. seedlings, in addition to verifying the effects under thermal stress. As a methodology, starting from a completely randomized design, firstly, a liquid and lyophilized crude extract of marine macroalgae was collected and obtained for application in two concentrations of liquid biofertilizer (1 and 10%), in a germination system on five-inch Germitest paper. cultivar genotypes of 6,300 safflower seeds (IMAMT S525, IMAMT 1470, IMAMT 894, IMAMT 7329 and IMAMT 7529), incubated in a germination chamber with a 12-hour dark/12-hour light photoperiod for a period of 8 days at temperatures ± 30 and ± 35 °C. At the end of the incubation period, the parameters of germination percentage (% G) and Germination Speed Index (IVG) were evaluated, as well as the phenometric parameters of shoot and root length (cm) and increase in fresh mass and dry (g). The data obtained was evaluated using the factorial Anova test and Tukey test to attribute significance to the data compilation. As results, we can observe that at concentrations of 1 and 10% of Kappaphycusalvarezii (Doty) biofertilizer, there was a difference in plant growth and development parameters in all evaluated cultivar genotypes, especially in root length and increase in fresh mass at temperature. ± 30°C. The cultivars IMAMT 894 and IMAMT S525 presented, at a concentration of 1% of biofertilizer, higher average germination and growth values than the control group, while the cultivar IMAMT 1470 presented higher average values at a concentration of 10% of the biofertilizer. For the IMAMT 7329 cultivar, it presented higher average values than the control group at a concentration of 10% at ± 30 °C, while the 7529 cultivar presented higher average values at 1 and 10% of biofertilizer at the same temperature. In conclusion, this study made it possible to understand the response of an organic biofertilizerwith a renewable and sustainable matrix as an alternative to a cultivar with agricultural interest for regions with arid and semi-arid characteristics, showing its application to be viable and a promising initial response for five safflower seed cultivars. . Therefore, contributing to the strengthening of coastal communities that make a living from the cultivation and collection of marine macroalgae for the production of bioproducts, in addition to being an alternative biofertilizer for use in family farming.
