SUMMARY:

The unpredictability of the future and the speed with which changes are taking place can be largely related to the rationality of modern thinking, the current patterns of development based on Western culture, and the economic globalization of present times. In light of the above, one of the key challenges facing the world community in seeking to replace unsustainable development patterns with environmentally sound and sustainable development is the need to stimulate the feeling that a common goal is being pursued on behalf of all sectors of the world. society. For this purpose the present work aims to identify and analyze the sustainable practices applied to the segments of fishing activity (fishing and aquaculture), and seeks to know the sustainability practices that are conceived and developed with the students in the Integrated Technical Course in Fishery Resources of the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), Macau Campus in view of the economic importance of the region due to its natural resources, specifically the fisheries. The results showed that 33% of the studies related to sustainability practices through their actions and evidenced the importance of these actions for the conservation of the environment, 17% of the studies indicated the use of management and conservation methods for environmental sustainability and 50%. Most of the studies were based on suggestions for actions and methods of management and conservation as a path to sustainable development. So far we can partially conclude that the environmental practices applied to the fishery and aquaculture sector can contribute to more sustainable measures of exploitation and management of fishery resources, corroborating the maintenance of these resources. For this it is important, the appreciation of these practices by the managing bodies, and the other social actors involved.
