SUMMARY:

The kinematic analysis of hemiparetic gait has demonstrated an increasingly important role in the recovery of post-stroke individuals, therefore new technologies are being developed in this perspective. Wearable sensors are one of these new technologies, a simpler and more accessible alternative to non-wearable devices. This study aimed to verify the feasibility of a portable device for analyzing angular and spatiotemporal parameters of gait in individuals post-stroke in an ambulatory setting. The research is characterized as a proof-of-concept study and the device consists of two inertial sensors, used to measure spatiotemporal parameters of gait and ankle angles. The test of the device will be conducted in comparison with the Qualisys Motion Capture System, considered the gold standard in this type of analysis. In addition to gait data, information regarding participant satisfaction and device performance will also be collected. For statistical analysis, the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software will be used, with a significance level of 5% assigned. Descriptive statistics will be used for sample characterization, modified B-QUEST 2.0 and device performance data. The Kendall Tau test will be used for validity analysis, which will allow verification of the correlation between kinematic outcomes obtained by the device and the gold standard. It is expected the study will enable the use of the portable device in follow-up studies and clinical practice of human movement professionals.
