SUMMARY:

Objective: To analyze the immediate effects of the application of the home version of the serious game VirtualTer on the usability and intrinsic motivation of healthy elderly people. Methodology: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, with a sample of 25 healthy older adults recruited in a non-probabilistically way by convenience. A home version of the serious game VirtualTer was used, developed for the rehabilitation of postural balance of the elderly and which included the execution of the stages of the challenges (Forest, Mountain and Desert), involving the lateral reach of the trunk, where the elderly should perform the movement with greater trunk inclination and capture the energy packets that appeared in different positions. The game was played using a notebook and the interface used to capture the movements was PoseNet, a pose recognition software via webcam. The game was applied in the home environment, and each elderly played the game three times. An evaluation was carried out containing: analysis of sociodemographic data, Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB); Internationa Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ); Disability Rating Scale WHODAS 2.0. After the application of the game, the elderly answered the questionnaires: Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) and the System Usability Scale (SUS). Expected results: It is expected to find a good usability of the application of the game in the home environment and that the elderly feel motivated with the use of this innovative technology tool in gerontological home rehabilitation.
