SUMMARY:

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) alter the physical capacity of patients, besides contributing to increased health expenditures. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is recognized as an important instrument of this process. However, during exercise, cardiac patients may present an adverse event associated with exercise. Therefore, it is essential to perform risk stratification for the exercise of these patients before starting the program. The use of risk stratification and prognosis in CR units is delayed in relation to scientific evidence for its use. However, risk stratification derived from maximal physical tests are the axis on which CR begins, without which decision-making on exercise prescription dosage and possible interruptions during the CR session cannot advance under the risk of increasing cardiac events. Objective: To know the profile of patients and to establish the prognostic risk of patients who were treated in a CR program, and to compare in terms of prognostic risk assessment, ergometric and ergospirometric tests before and after CR. Methodology: This is a retrospective study, regarding risk stratification of patients referred for CR in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Sector of the Onofre Lopes University Hospital - CORE HUOL. Cardiovascular risk was analyzed according to the recommendation for CPET published by the AHA (2012). Statistical analysis will be performed through the software (IBM SPSS version 22.0). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to verify the normality of the data. To identify whether there is a difference between the means of the variables with normal distribution before and after rehabilitation, the paired T test will be used, and without normal distribution the Wilcoxon test. Pearson's correlation will be used to evaluate whether there is a correlation between the variables with normal distribution and Spearman's correlation for those with non-normal distribution. And to identify whether there is a relationship between categorical variables, the Chi square test will be used, and when identifying the variables that presented statistically significant difference, a logistic regression will be used. Expected results: This study is expected to know the prognostic risk of hf patients treated in a CR program, identify the differences between each pre- and post-rehabilitation variable, and establish the differences between ergometry and ergospirometry in terms of risk assessment.
