RESUMO:

The reduction of the neurotransmitter, Dopamine, in Parkinson's disease results in electrophysiological changes in the activity of neurons involved in the cortico-striatal circuit and in motor and non-motor symptoms observed in the disease. Considering that the literature still presents divergences when the electrophysiological pattern during execution and imagery of complex activities, the aim of this study was to analyze the spectral power of the EEG data of individuals with Parkinson's disease (on medication) during gait execution, kinesthetic and visual motor imagery of gait. This is an observational study, with 17 individuals on antiparkinsonian medication, mean age 62,2 ± 5,8 years and mean time of diagnosis 68,5±8,2 months. In order to capture raw EEG data, a wireless Emotic EPOC headset with 16 sensors was used. For each rhythm (theta, alpha, beta and gamma), the relative median power per channel was compared between the different activities (execution, kinesthetic imagery and visual imagery of gait). The spectral power of the EEG does not differ between types of motor imagery in individuals with Parkinson's disease on medication, so, both can be used during motor imagery training sessions for rehabilitation. Individuals with Parkinson's disease on medication also present a pattern of rhythms similar to that of healthy subjects, according to comparisons of data in the literature.
