RESUMO:

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy is a special event in the life of every woman. Gestation is a period characterized by a series of physical, hormonal and psychological changes, together with the cultural, social, religious and emotional influences experienced by the pregnant woman, can affect sexuality. The two problems most frequently reported by women during gestation are the presence of physical discomforts and problems related to sleep. For many women proper sleep as well as sexual function are considered important. OBJECTIVE: To verify the relation between sleep quality and the sexual function of pregnant women; and their influence on quality of life. METHODOLOGY: This is a cross-sectional, observational study of pregnant women participating in the Course for Pregnant Women of the Physiotherapy Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte from April 2013 to March 2018. All pregnant women will be evaluated through an interview and self-administered questionnaires. The pregnant woman's identification will be filled, then the women will respond to the Female Sexual Function Index, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index; and finally the Ferrans and Powers Quality of Life Index. STUDY PERSPECTIVES: This study aims to contribute to the understanding of some changes present during the gestational period, providing new information on this topic.
