RESUMO:

Introduction: In order of the need to evaluate the clinical control of asthma in
children and adolescents through methods that assess the effectiveness of
asthma interventions, it was observed the importance of the availability of
validated instruments for use in the Brazilian population. However, few specific
instruments have culturally adapted and validated versions for the Portuguese
language (Brazil). Objectives: To perform a translation, cross-cultural adaptation
and evaluate psychometric properties of the Pediatric Asthma Control and
Communication Instrument (PACCI) for use in the Brazilian population. Methods:
An exploratory methodological study, which involves the process of translation
and cross-cultural adaptation through translation, back-translation, review by a
multi-professional committee of experts and pre-test. The psychometric
properties will be analyzed trough the application of the adapted instrument in a
sample. It will be realized anthropometric assessments, evaluation of clinical
control through the PACCI questionnaire and the Ashtma Control Test and
Childhood Asthma Control Test, quality of life will be evaluated through the
Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire and Pediatric Asthma Caregiver’s
Quality of Life Questionnaire, and evaluation of pulmonar fuction through
spirometry. The data will be analyzed using SPSS 20.0, with a significance level
of 5%. The normality of the data will be verified by the Kolmogorov-sminorv test.
For content validity, Cohen’s Kappa coefficient will be measured. For construct
validity, it will be realized fatorial analyze. For the analysis of the test-retest
reliability and internal consistency of the items, it will be used intraclass
correlation coefficient and Cronbach’s alpha. The instruments and pulmonary
function test will be correlated through the Pearson or Spearman correlation test,
and their association will be verified through ANOVA and Bonfferoni post-test. To
compare the mean scores of the PACCI instrument between the groups by age
and durting the test-retest, it will be used the t-student test or the Wilcoxon test.
The cut-off point will be established through the ROC curve. Expected results:
To provide a valid and reliable instrument to determine the clinical control of
asthma for Brazilian children and adolescents.
