In social context, factors like age, sex, kinship and rank influence the quality of relationships between individuals, resulting in better quality (more affiliative) or worst quality (more agonistic) relationships. Beyond these factors, recently research are showing the influence of individual differences on quality of relationships. Similarities in personality dimensions like Openness, Sociability and Neuroticism can predict better quality of relationships between individuals in dyadic and group levels. Capuchin monkeys stand by the third cortical reason, reflecting in their behavioral complexity, being an excellent translational model. The present work aim to explore the influence of individual differences on social relationships in a sample of 30 captive capuchin monkeys housed on IBAMA’s rescue center. The methodology includes focal observations of animals and achievement of personality and proximity tests. A total of 32 hours of observations and sessions of tests were realized with 16 animals, and other 58 hours and sessions of tests will be realized with a sample of more14 animals will be carried by the end of the project. Preliminary results indicate that the relation between personality and social behavior are non-linear, but cubic and quadratic. It means that individuals with extreme values on dimensions share more similarities that with individuals with medium values. The dimensions Openness and Neuroticism were w related with affiliation between individuals in group level. Future analyses can elucidate more details in the relation of personality dimensions about quality of relationships in dyadic and group levels.
