RESUMO:

Emotions can be a factor that provides improvement in social interactions. Expressing emotions brings informations both to the individual who expresses them and to the individual who perceives them and this creates a relationship between them, which is the basis of social interaction. Nine components can be identified in the process of recognition of emotions in children: recognition, external cause, desire, belief, memory, regulation, camouflage, mixed response and moral. These components present themselves in different age groups and each of them has its own characterization. For humans, the first established emotional relationship occurs between the baby and his or her primary caregiver. It is in this first relation that there is the development of what we call empathy, an emotional and behavioral perception in front of the emotions of the other. Empathy is a social skill that has its intricate roots with emotional attachments and the ability to relate to others. Thus, an inclusive, affective family background with authoritative parents end up favoring empathic abilities. The main objective of this work will be to understand the development of empathy and the perception of emotions in childhood. Data collection will be carried out in the municipality of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The sample will have a total of 158 participants, divided into three age groups (group 1: 5 and 6 years, group 2: 7 and 8 years and group 3: 9 and 10 years), between male and female students, a municipal school and a private school. The collection will be done individually from the use of questionnaires and an empirical test. We will use 2 guided questionnaires with the children and a questionnaire will be sent to parents to respond about their children. For the evaluation of the students 'perception of emotions, an emotion perception test will be done in which we will use a Eye Tracking as a means of recording the participants' choices. There will be 3 images of individuals expressing each of the 6 basic emotions and each image will be given 4 options of emotions for the participant to choose the correct emotion that was expressed in the image. The results will be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests (parametric or non-parametric) for each of the hypotheses raised, taking into account the type of data distribution.
