RESUMO:

A number of evidences show the influence of the medium on the growth of damaged nerves in the Peripheral Nervous System (SNP), as well as the potential of stem cell (CT) implantation in making this medium more conducive to Nerve regeneration. In this way, this study proposes to analyze the effect of the inoculation of mesenchymal CTs in combination or not with the growth factor of Fibroblast Growth Factor - 2 (FGF - 2), in promoting facial nerve regeneration. Wistar rats were subjected to facial nerve crushing at the time of the post-auricular region and were treated or not with CT associated or not with FGF-2. After that, the behavioral evaluation of the animals was performed for 3 months and then the facial nerve tissue analysis was performed through the neurofilament immunohistochemistry (NF) for the growth associated protein 43 (GAP-43), for the associated protein To microtubule-2 (MAP-2) and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) in the graft region. The study showed the influence of mesenchymal CT and FGF-2 on the behavior of facial motor function of animals submitted to facial nerve injury, as evidenced by behavioral analysis. Thus, the study shows the importance of this process in the benefits that mesenchymal CT and FGF- 2 play in the regeneration of PNS.
