SUMMARY:

The Kalanchoe laciniata (L.) DC., popularly known as “saião” and “coirama branca”, is an easily cultivated plant and its chemical constitution has active metabolites used in products to prevent the signs of cut. In cosmetics, a placement of plant-based actives in nanoemulsion systems has received great attention. Therefore, this work aimed to develop cosmetic nanoemulsions with antioxidant activity to prevent skin death, using hydroethanolic extract of Kalanchoe laciniata leaves. For this, a hydroethanolic turboextraction (50% ethanol, v / v) was performed in the plant (fresh leaves): solvent ratio of 1: 1 (w / v). The selected extract was quantitatively quantified for the total concentration of phenolics and total flavonoids. The in vitro antioxidant potential of Kalanchoe laciniata was evaluated by different antioxidant methods such as: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical sequestration; radical sequestration 2,2′-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS˖+); hydroxyl and superoxide radical sequestration; chelation of metal ions (Cu2+ and Fe2+); reducing power and antioxidant capacity reproduced from an experimental design (2³ + 3 PC) and characterized for droplet size, polydispersity and zeta potential and then charge for their preliminary stability in a greenhouse at 45 ° C for 5 days and with 30 days acceleration. The extract showed 3.48% phenolic compounds and 13.52g Eq / mg total flavonoids. The antioxidant activity of the lyophilized extract was observed. The preliminary stable nanoemulsion was used, with 12.5% emollient. , 7.5% surfactants and 78.5% aqueous phase, particle size 129.9 ± 0.57 nm, polydispersity 0.162 ± 0.008 and a zeta potential of | -34.08 | ± 1.32 30 days under different temperature conditions, although nanoemulsions showed statistical differences in some parameters, they do not present changes in their macroscopic physical appearance. Thus, the results show the antioxidant potential of Kalanchoe laciniata, demonstrating the innovative profile of the plant as a cosmetic raw material for the prevention of signs of cut.
