SUMMARY:

The discussion on the suspension of judgment’s (ἐποχή) limits is one of the core questions concerning the Pyrrhonism. The controversy lies in whether the ἐποχή include the ordinary beliefs, contrasting the “rustic” and “urbane” views. Although the rustic and urbane conceptions present reasonable arguments, both give rise to serious practical problems, with implications on viability of living according to the Pyrrhonic way of life (ἀγωγή). In order to overcome the problems associated to way of these views delimits the scope of ἐποχή, proposed a new reading that reconsiders the role of the commemorative signs within the sphere of the Pyrrhonian ἀγωγή and establish the coherence between the ἐποχή and ἀγωγή. Therefore, the claims of rustic and urbane views, as well as their objections and reviews, are examined about the beliefs and the apraxia’s charge in Pyrrhonism. Afterward, the commemorative signs and the everyday life, as well as the role of those signs in the Pyrrhonic ἀγωγή, are discussed. The result showed that this new view is a promising reply against the apraxia’s charge, offering a key to a compatible read between Pyrrhonian’s ἐποχή and ἀγωγή.
