SUMMARY:

This master's thesis aims to demonstrate that the philosophy of Cornelius Castoriadis profoundly renews the question of the subject in philosophy from a double condition of the human, that is, the social-historical dimension, on the one hand, and the psychic dimension, on the other, and the interweaving of these elements. Castoriadis thus presents the fundamentals for the development of the subject's autonomy, the realization of his creative nature and the affirmation of his truth. The work resulting from our bibliographical research is structured in three chapters, the first of which is dedicated to the ontological conception of the author, based on the concept of creation and having Greek thought as the main exponent of original creation. The second chapter deals with the conceptions of the imaginary preceding Castoriadis, allowing us to highlight the author's originality, through the intertwining of the psychic imagination and the imaginary in the social-historical domain. The third and last chapter is dedicated to the issue of autonomy, in the subjective and collective scope, finally approaching the issue of ecology and its current developments.
